I just thought I would do a little blog update for everyone who doesn't follow us on Facebook. We found out last month that we are expecting a little... GIRL! We are extremly excited for our newest addition and I feel so blessed to be awaiting such an amazing gift from our Father in Heaven.

David is pretty excited for his "baby girl" as he calls her. He has known that she was coming since I was about two months pregnant. He had a dream one night and saw her... there is nothing like powerful confirmation like that! He is SO amazing, sweet, caring, careful and loving toward her already. He can often be found feeling my belly for a kick. For example, last night he was resting his head on the side of my belly and got kicked in the cheek a few times. He just giggled and said, "WOW! Did you feel that?!" It was a very tender moment as he got to experience a part of our baby girls growth. He is always talking to my belly telling her to continue to grow and be strong. He expresses his love for her and tells her he can't wait for her to come. Then he tells her that he will "make sure mommy eats well so she can be healthy." It is really fun to watch him interact with her and talk about when she is here. I am so blessed to have such an amazing man to protect and love our children and I.

There have been some different experiences that I have had that I just wanted to share with those who are thinking of having children or who are expecting and have had these same experiences.

1- Leg cramps. I didn't start getting these lovely intruders until the second trimester and they didn't come during the day- they always came at night. I was awakened one night to a charly horse in my right calf and instead of the cramp going away, it lingered for a couple of days. Since I work in a doctors office I just asked my boss what he would prescribe one of his patients to do. He suggested Cal-Mag or Calcium Magnesium. (You can pick these up at the grocery store by the pharmacy.) It has really helped me a lot and the only time I get leg cramps now is when I forget to take my pill at night.

2- Palmers Cocoa Butter for Stretch Marks. This was suggested to me by another co-worker before Dave and I got pregnant. I have heard that stretch marks are more genetic than anything, but even if you don't get stretch marks this helps your skin not feel so dry around the "tight and heavy" areas as I call them. My mom didn't get stretch marks and I have been lucky enough not to experience them so far either, but this lotion is AMAZING for those days of growth for the baby when everything feels tight or heavy. I just put some on my stomach, breasts, back and bum after I shower and I don't feel the itch of growth. It is pretty expensive, but I have only gone through one bottle in 21 weeks. We just picked another one up last night at Walmart for about $5.50.

3- Pre-natals. I am SO glad I started my pre-natals as soon as I went off the pill. It gave my body enough time to get the vitamins in there and I feel that they really helped during those crucial weeks of the baby's growth. I can tell every morning whether I have expensive urine or the baby is getting those vitamins so I am pleased.

Pictures will be coming- as soon as I figure out how to load them on our new computer...

  1. Very cute Shina! I was not so lucky about the stretch marks, but the lotion does help your skin feel more comfortable. Not to make you dread the third trimester or anything, but I got restless leg syndrome. It makes it so you just can't sit still. I would do laps around my couch at night. But it usually calmed the Keldrie down too. She was always really active at night. Best of luck in the months to come! Love ya!
