A little bit of Summer

I realized that I have not done a family update in a while so, here it goes.

Dave was recently called to be the 1st councelor in the young mens. Saying that he loves his calling would be an understatement I think. My husband has a way with the youth that I wish I had.  He fits in so well with them and knows how to interact and become their friends and allies.  I have jokingly told him a couple of times that I will raise our kids until they become teenagers and then they are all his.
Dave attended high adventure with two other presidency members and three of the priests. That is right, one leader for one priest. I think Dave had more fun with them than he does with me! I am okay with it though. We all need friends who share our beliefs and lift us up and make us better.  Dave has literally been BEGGING me for a machete for months, maybe the last year. I'm not really sure why... must be a boy thing.  Well, while he was in Jackson Hole for high adventure he asked for permission to purchase one. I was being nice and said yes. Well, his machete is gigantic (in my terms) and the young men named him Richard. One young man was a little jealous of Richard and bought himself a Little Richard, or whatever they named him.

We are going to Arizona in September so he can get his CrossFit training done. Once he has this he will work at his friend(s) and co-workers CrossFit gym that is opening up this fall in Davis County. I am excited that he will be able to do this because he is very passionate about health and fitness (especially CrossFit) and this is the perfect way for him to follow his dreams.  Because Dave's educational goals are to become a Dietician he has been asked to be the nutrition guy at the gym. He is pretty excited.
Dave is looking forward to going here next month.... Lucky...

As previous posts have stated, I am trying to take better care of my body by working out regularly and eating healthier. I have not felt well this week so my working out schedule has faltered, but I am trying to eat better.  I worked out twice last week and once so far this week. I love when my body aches because I know I actually pushed myself.
Since quitting my job in March I have had a heavy burden released from my shoulders. I am still trying to figure out my schedule and some days are better than others with keeping to my tasks and goals, but I feel so much better now that I don't have to worry about working and being a mom and being a wife. I really enjoyed what I did, but the environment wasn't exactly pleasant all the time. I am grateful for the experience, but I am even more grateful that I am on to bigger and better things.
I am excited to announce that Dave and I are trying again for another child. NO THIS IS NOT A PREGNANCY ANNOUNCEMENT.  We were going to wait to get off the birth control after Peyton turned 18 months, but I started feeling very strongly that we had a little spirit that needed to come to earth a little earlier. So after some thoughtful prayer and the quiet confirmation to both of us, we started trying a few months ago. We will see what happens. Maybe we will have an announcement in a couple of months. :)
I am an avid reader and I love being a member of my ward's book club. I wasn't able to attend last months meeting so I picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone and read it for what seems like the millionth time. I love Harry Potter. Dave has to remind me that Harry Potter is not real... I secretly believe that the Ministry of Magic is out there keeping all of us Muggles from the truth. Man, I love reading good books.

Peyton is a little fire cracker. She is such a joy in our lives and we can't believe how quickly she is learning and growing.  She loves playing dress up, patty cake, hide and seek and showing us where her different body parts are. We had pink eye in our home last week and poor Peyton got it pretty bad. She and I woke up Sunday morning two weeks ago with our eyes goopy and slightly pink. We stayed home from church and watched movies and ate treats. Monday morning she woke up and her right eye was swollen and gooped shut. She looked like someone had punched her in the eye. Thankfully our pediatrician is the best and got her in that morning. We got her on an antibiotic... which we have had to continue this week. She ended up getting over the pink eye, but she got a sinuse infection from congestion and pink eye and her eye lids were swelling shut. We had to go to the doctor again to find out what to do. His reccomendation worked and she looks normal again!
Peyton still only has 5 little teeth. I hope more come in soon because she has a difficult time eating meat.
Funny Story: today I had to pick up some items from the autoparts store and Peyton was being a pill. There weren't any carts so I had to hold Peyton, but she didn't want to be held because there were so many fun things to grab.  I got everything we needed and had to put her down when I paid. She knew freedom had come at last so she ran down one of the isles. I finished my purchase and asked her to come back because I was going bye-bye and she would be left all alone. She looked at me, waved and said bye-bye as she ran away. I giggled to myself because it was so flipping cute.
I love being a mom and I am excited to welcome another one when the Lord's time is right.

Now some pictures...

Pink eye- after wakeing up and after we got her eye cleaned off. (oh, and a very popular body part that Peyton recently discovered- her nose hole!)

After the pink eye cleared up, but when her eye lids were swollen. Still a happy little girl.

One of her favorite kitchen drawers to destroy.

Helping Grandma Owen in the garden

I saw an idea on Pinterest to fill something with beans and let your toddler play in it with cups and spoons. It was fun until she started throwing the beans everywhere... then mean mommy took them away.

Swimming in Great Grandma and Grandpa Hicks' back yard and jetted bathtub

My great grandma (Peyton's great-great grandma) We spent the weekend with her so my Aunt and Uncle could get away for a couple of days with their kids. Peyton and I had a blast.

Peyton is learning how to put her own shoes on and decided to try daddy's big work boots. They are pretty heavy so she didn't get very far.

One my favorite things to do has been transfered to my daughter.

One of Heavenly Father's great designs.

My cousin Kody married his sweetheart Candace last week. Dave and I were able to attend the sealing and let Peyton play on the temple grounds. She loved it and kept pointing to Moroni.

My sweet little family.
