Doing as the Doctor (or in my case, Husband) ordered

No, this post is not me announcing to the blogging community that my husband "orders" me around. That is far from the truth.

My husband is an avid Cross Fit-er as well as healthy eater. His main goal in life is to stay healthy through working out at least six times a week and eating the right kind of foods until the day he dies (which will probably be when he is 150 because he is that good).

I have had a goal since, um, the first day I started dating Dave to get back into shape and start eating healthy. Three years later, I can count on both hands how many times I have actually worked out.

I am the first to admit that I may look healthy on the outside, but I don’t feel healthy on the inside. I prefer candy over fruits and veggies and I occasionally enjoy a bowl of popcorn instead of eating a healthy and planned out meal for lunch. I have been telling Dave for a while that I want to get back into shape (high school, I felt ‘Dang good’), but I am lazy. Plain and simple.

I have a lot of free time on my hands. I shouldn’t be making excuses.

With that I am going to start a little system here on our blog so that I am accountable to other people. This is kind of a scary deal because opening up like this is a bit intimidating, but I need to do it because I know I won’t do it any other way.

My plan:
Posting my success (and failures) on the blog and posting my workouts on facebook.

Work out at least five times a week- Cross Fit. My husband has been doing it for over year on his own and he says that he feels great! He looks great too! I have seen his results personally so I know it works. Plus, the workouts don’t take that long. Running. I found a little chart on Pinterest that might help me out. I have some issues with my left ankle and I am hoping to strengthen the muscles in it so I can run. Gym Membership. I have a free membership to the gym on base through Dave’s military service. I need to see what is available there. My Husband. Dave is a great resource when it comes to working out. He is very knowledgeable and has experience with personal training. [He has actually been offered a position at a Cross Fit gym as a trainer. We are just waiting for him to attend a Cross Fit training seminar so he can do it legally]

Eat Healthy- I feel that I have some good habits in this area already. Dave and I try to eat nutritious foods, but when he is not home I tend to veg on junk. Dave is trying to abide by the ‘Paleo Diet’ which is essentially not eating anything that isn’t naturally made or what the cave men wouldn’t have available to them. Look it up if you are confused, I had to. I will try to follow this diet, but this girl needs her dairy!

If I am going to eat healthy I need to announce this- I am cutting junk food from my diet- darn.

Well, that is the plan. Let’s see how this goes….

** Thanks Mindy for inspiring me to be better. You rock girl!

  1. Phew! Good luck! Those are some awesome goals! I definitely think I can relate when it comes to working out--I'm pretty sure I only need one hand to count the times I've done it. :S
