New Start

Both babes are asleep so I thought I would take a minute or two to write a little update since we will be taking a six month Internet sabbatical starting Friday on our desktop.

Our little man, Kai, was born February 25th at 10:27 AM. He is absolutely perfect. Kai's first two weeks have been a much better experience than we had with Peyton. There are many reasons for this, but a lot of it is because we know what to expect this time around and emotionally I am in a much better place because my only focus is my little family.  It has also helped to have SO MANY amazing friends, ward and family members who have made us dinner, helped watch Peyton, helped us pack up our house (more on that below) and given lots of support and love.

Kai and I stayed one night in the hospital and then left before the nurse shift change the 26th. It was glorious.

First time meeting. A little sibling love and friendship started at first sight. All she wanted to do was give him a hug and rub his soft head.

I bounced back from pregnant body to regular Shina body pretty quickly with Peyton, but it seems like my recovery this time around has been ridiculously faster! I am not complaining and I thank my family genes and my husband for encouraging me to be more active while pregnant.

38 Weeks

Exactly one week after Kai was born

As mentioned above, we have been packing. I have been packing up our house for the last month or so in preperation for a move we knew was going to happen, but didn't exactly know when. Dave and I absolutly love where we live and so the decision to move has been a difficult one that we knew we had to make.  Due to the government sequester Dave will be furloughed and will be losing 10 hours of work/pay a week. That accounts to a whole weeks worth of pay a month that we will not be receiving.  This is going to be a huge cut for us and in order to survive until September when the fiscal year ends and the furlough is over we had to make some hard decisions and cut back on a lot of things- including rent.

What I am most sad about is leaving our friends that we have made. Thankfully we are not moving far away, but this is the friendship I am the saddest about leaving behind.

Peyton had to give the computer screen kisses when she saw this picture. She loves this little man.
