I love my husband. I don't think I say that enough. I love my husband.
Dave turned 28 on Sunday. I felt really bad because we flew home from Texas Sunday morning and I was not in a mood to celebrate anything. Dave probably thought I didn't care about him. Luckily, I had been planning in advance. Dave's family came over for cake and ice cream Sunday night and then the real festivities were Monday.
We typically go out to dinner at an expensive restaurant to celebrate, but we ate out every night in Texas. I wanted to make his big day special because he has worked so hard this semester for our family.... so I did what any wife and mother would do, I turned to Pinterest for an idea.
I found an excellent idea (if you want to find it, search my Board under 'Gift Ideas') from the Dating Diva's. What I did was sent a message to Dave's family members and some of his close friends asking if they would help me by writing Dave a letter stating what he means to them. Thankfully all of his friends replied as well as my parents and Dave's mom. The letters were awesome. I got choked up with a few of them and was so giddy with excitment that I almost spilled the secret to Dave when I received the first letter.
While Dave was busy at work on Monday I made the final preparations. I printed the letters everyone had written, Peyton and I included, and put them into envelopes. I wanted 28 envelopes since he turned 28. The remaining envelopes were filled with dollar bills (totaling $20) that had little messages included from Peyton and I. I also filled one envelope with Dave's favorite pens because he is doing another summer semester.
I taped them to the wall by our kitchen table so it would be the first thing he saw when he came home.
Peyton was a good sport. She patiently stood by my side as I finished stuffing the envlopes so I thanked her with a cookie. She was happy.
Then, I made an excellent candlelit dinner:
spaghetti, french bread, salad, Martinelli's Apple-Mango sparkling cider and angel food cake smothered in strawberries and whipped topping for dessert.
I even pulled out my Corelle Ware for this event! This was our first time EVER using it. I received it from my grandma when I moved out of my parents house... in 2007.
Everything turned out amazing. Dave was really touched with how much time I put into everything to make it special for him. I love you babe. You are SO worth it!
Peyton was SO excited to play with the balloon's the next day. Such a funny little girl.

That's such a fun idea with the envelopes! Also, your meal looks gourmet - good job Shina!
