Our booming July

I absolutely LOVE the month of July. This year has proved to be the busiest one so far for our little family.  We have taken a lot of time out of our work and school filled lives to spend with each other and our extended family.

Peyton had her very first toenail painting done to match mommies. (next time I won't attempt this when she is awake... she had polish on her toes for days.)

We finally made it to the top of Waterfall Canyon! On our way down the mountain we ran into a furry friend.....

Peyton started sitting on her own at four months! She is really wobbly and topples over, but she is learning so quickly.

We learned that daddy and Peyton sleep very similar (Dave pretended he was asleep ha ha)

Dave's dad is working at a Boy Scout Camp this summer in Idaho. He is one of the horse wranglers and can't leave so we visited him over the 4th of July weekend. We rode horses, shot rifles (Dave and I shot an M4!) hiked and did a lot of walking. The horses were my favorite part and we were able to put Peyton on one of them.
Peyton is growing WAY too fast. (She turned 5 months on July 2) When we first bought our hiking backpack in June we had to have her sit on a blanket in order to be tall enough for the seat... here it is almost halfway through July and she no longer needs the blanket and can see over the top just fine.

Dave and our friends, Ken and Amanda Church did an 8 mile obstacle course the second weekend in July called the Super Spartan.  They had to run up and down a mountain, jump over, under and through walls, throw a spear into a target, drag or carry a cement block up and down a hill, climb up rope's, lift tires, run through mud, crawl under barbed wire and run through fire.  I know there is more they did, but I can't remember... there was so much.  My amazing husband did SO well! I am a very proud wife. He was really nervous before the race started, but he kicked butt by completing in 2 hours and 36 minutes.  he didn't train as much as he would have liked, but he wants to try again next year with some training under his belt to see if he can improve his time.  I really want to do an obstacle course like this, but I already know I wouldn't be able to do 8 miles...

  1. Fun pictures, Shina! You have such a cute little family! It was fun to see you, Dave, and Peyton at the NHS get together in Salt Lake.
